The Founder

Dr. R. A. Ghani

The CEO, Dr. R. A. Ghani is a dedicated engineer possessing broad and diversified experience in verities of civil engineering works, conventional and nuclear at home and abroad. As a self-searching man he acquired considerable background in engineering, science and mathematics. With a brilliant academic carrier Dr. Ghani had his earlier education at Gaibandha and Calcutta Presidency College, India and obtained his B.Sc. Engineering Degree in 1952 from Dhaka and M.S. from University of California, Berkeley in 1964 and D.Sc. from Washington University, Saint Louis Missouri, USA in 1966.

Dr. Ghani is associated with several professional Institutions and Societies throughout the world, besides some publication to his credit. Dr. Ghani is a Consulting Engineer of outstanding repute and a pioneer in the field of consulting engineering profession. He founded Ganibangla Limited (GBL) formerly Brixton and Brixton Limited (BBL) in 1953 and is at present the oldest Consulting Engineering firm in Bangladesh.

Dr. Ghani with his vast and diversified knowledge and experience was instrumental in setting up a bank namely The Prime Bank Ltd. As the Founder Chairman and a Sponsor Director he introduced technology for automation of banking and created a new generation of commercial banking system in private sector. The bank has already ranked no. 1 (one) among all the banks of Bangladesh. In addition he has also been instrumental in setting up a life Insurance company.

He was elected Member of Parliament and was Minister of state for Science and Technology. Headed many Bangladesh Delegations to UNO, UNDP, GATT, TCDPAP, ASPAC, ESCAP, Group of 77, etc. He had unique opportunity to preside over a plenary session of UN conference on Science & Technology for Development in Vienna. He was Director of Bangladesh Bank. He is an Arbitrator for ICC, Paris. He is the founder president of Ganibangla IT Institute. He is associated with many Socio-cultural, Educational & Humanitarian organizations such as Rotary, Diabetic Association, Asiatic Society, Technical Education Board, PATC, etc. He is the founder trustee of Kasirunnessa Foundation & Center for National Culture Trust. Dr. Ghani combines in himself an engineer, scientist, technologist, organizer, social worker, administrator & management expert.
